Domenico Romeo, age 87, passed away at his home in Fanwood, surrounded by his family on April 9, 2018. He was born on January 2, 1931 in Melicucca`, Italy. He came to the United States in 1962, and eventually settled in Fanwood in 1971.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Dooley Funeral Home, 566 Westfield Ave, Westfield. The funeral service will begin at 10am on Saturday, April 14, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish, 2032 Westfield Avenue in Scotch Plains.
Domenico was the owner/operator of D. Romeo and Son Landscaping, which he started in 1968. His passion in life was to provide for his family and he worked hard to instill an excellent work ethic to his sons. He enjoyed tending to his garden and spending time with his wife and family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Nancy; sons, Rocco (Linda), Vincent, Domenick (Kristen), and Max (Kori), 6 grandchildren, Nicole, Olivia, Sophia, Dominic, Amelia, and Christopher; 8 siblings, John, Antonio, Rocco, Vincent, Lorenzo, Frances Cambareri, Maria Romano, and Rosalie Miceli; and many cherished sibling in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Rocco and Domenica, and a brother, Rosario Romeo.
